The Hampton Court Palace Flower Show Bringing the Newest Trends of the Season
Every summer the Hampton Court Palace Show is eagerly awaited by avid gardeners as it sets the trends for seasons to come. This year was no exception with show bringing the new arrivals and new trends to the world of gardening.
This year the show had a light and summery theme with the flowers reflecting the mood.
Cool white is the trendiest colour of this year. Flowers with this colour emphasize the foliage of their plant and create a beautiful contrast. The Astrantia or “Shaggy” flower best reflects this trend as it has many tiny flowers that have a cool white colour and are bordered with green ruffles.
The height of flowers is also very important this season. The Vernonia arkansana or “Mammuth” set the stage for this trend. It has a strong stem and can grow up to 6 feet in height with a beautiful purple flower.
Finally, grasses are also a major trend this year. Various different experimentations with different types of grasses fascinates gardeners. One example of such a grass is a type of pennisetum called “Fairy Tails,” this is a tall upright slender grass with light pink tips that fade to beige, creating a wonderful effect in the garden.
