Sweet Stories from a Flower Shop

Sweet Stories from a Flower ShopNancy Yeoman knows that she cannot change a person’s life with flowers, but after 27 years working in the flower business, she is sure that flowers are the best way to make a someone smile.

Yeoman says that the best part of her job is brightening people’s lives, which is all part of her job as the owner of Yucaipa Florist.

Over the years of making people’s lives a bit brighter she has collected a pile of stories.

One of her best stories is about a long-distance phone call she got in 2004. Yeoman says, “I got this call from a soldier in Iraq from a satellite phone. He said, ‘Bear with me, I’m in Iraq and we’re under fire.'”

The soldier was under attack and he was placing his call from under a truck, but he quickly wanted to order flowers for his mother for Mother’s Day. The soldier went back to fighting the war and Yeoman filled out his order after he hung up the phone.

Though the times have changed, stories like this are what keep her job smelling sweet.
