Portsmouth Lilac Festival
Flowers are blooming all over the place with Portsmouth being no exception, and this weekend saw the start of the annual lilac festival. The streets are lined with the beautiful scent of the state’s flower.
The Lilac Festival takes place each year in a tribute to some of the oldest lilacs found in the country. The blooms are a beautiful addition to the historic landscape found here.
Hundreds of tourists visit the Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion Estate, where they can tour the house for free and buy lilacs while they are at it.
Katie and Harold Rowe visited the mansion for the first time this weekend. This couple have a line of lilac trees in their garden and have been wanting to visit the show for years. They wanted to see these plants which date back more than 100 years. If you’re nearby, you should visit the event too. It looks impressive, I can tell you that..
