Planting Flowers For Beginners
If 2009 is the year you want to begin planting flowers for the first time, there are some simple rules to follow to ensure that you have success.
It is important to start small. It is not that easy to take care of plants, the fewer you have the easier it will be to keep track of them. You will experience failure more often than not, it is just a part of gardening, and especially when it comes to taking care of flowers. The smaller your plot is the less time and money you will waste on the experimental stages.
The first step is to pick out the best spot for your new garden. As a beginner you should choose a spot that has a lot of sun — gardening in shady spots is for more experienced gardeners. It should be in a spot that you can see from your home, or that you pass by daily, so you can keep a close eye on your progress.
Finally you need to dig in. You should wait until you are sure there will be no more frosts in your area. Then you can grab your spade or pitchfork and start digging in. It is especially important to remove weeds, stones and grass. You can add a bit of fertilizer, rake the soil to make it even and water it generously, then you can start planting.
