Must Visit: Fantastic Flower Festivals in May

It’s the beginning of the summer – well, you wouldn’t think that with todays rain but according to the Met Office and the BBC going to be the best summer we’ve had in Britain for a few years! And what better to do than see all the summer blooms in their full glory?

Must visit trips this month start this weekend!

Westminster Abbey

May 7-10th – Festival of Flowers
The festival of flowers is hosted at Westminster Abbey this weekend and is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies. NAFAS is an educational charity who promote the artistic use of flowers and plants for adults and children.

May 7-10th – The Spring Gardening Show
The first RHS show of the year, the Spring Gardening Show in Malvern promises to deliver exciting and innovative ideas for this season! There will be garden shows and fashion catwalks as well as shopping, food and more.

May 16-17th – The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society
The 9th festival of this nature will bring to life an array of events, including beekeeping, a dog show, folk dance festival, auctions and vintage machinary.

Chelsea Flower Show

May 19-23rd – The RHS Chelsea Flower Show
The extremely established RHS Chelsea Flower Show is possibly the most exciting event of the whole year, setting the latest gardening and floral trends for the year. Filled with leading designers and celebrities of the horticultural world, this is definitely the unmissable event of the year. Click here for Chelsea Flower Show news.

May 23-25th – The Kent Garden Show
This stunning show will feature over 300 exhibitors, including the meal winners from Chelsea. There will be shops, demonstrations as well as craft areas and childrens rides. Comparatively low in price and good for the whole family.

May 26-28th – Horticultural Weekend
The Horticultural Weekend is in Dyffryn Gardens, Wales, which is in the British Tourism Association‘s top 100 gardens in the UK. Some lovely walks taking place, alongside talks, exhibitions and demonstrations from the Cardiff Bonsai Club.
