Lovely Leucospermum

The leucospermum, commonly known as the pincushion due to its cluster of needle-like flower heads makes an unusual and striking option for autumn flower arrangements due to its vibrant bright orange and red-orange hues. Native to South Africa and Zimbabwe, the flower heads typically appear from August to October, but leucadendron are generally available from most suppliers and florists virtually year-round these days.

At Flowers24Hours, we love using these wonderful, exotic blooms to add texture and interest to our arrangements and flower bouquets, particularly in autumn when there is a great range of other materials available in this colour palette. At the moment we are teaming them with burnt orange cymbidium and red ilex berries, combined with golden and russet-toned oak and birch foliage to create dramatic vase arrangements and hand tied designs.
