Flowers that Take Care of Themselves

Flowers that Take Care of ThemselvesSometimes planting and taking care of flowers can be quite a tiring task. For those who do not have the time or patience to take care of blooms, there is the option of using self-sowing flowers. These flowers seed and replant themselves each year. Self-sowers include some annuals, biennials and perennials.

  • Forget-me-nots are a favourite among most people and they also belong to this group of easy to care for flowers. They only need to be nurtured and planted once to produce beautiful flowers each year.
  • Calendulas or pot marigolds are also a very reliable source of flowers.
  • Then comes the old-fashioned bush balsam and the ferny-foliaged cosmos, with former producing pink or white blossoms that look like miniature roses.

The only work involved is to pull out plants if they become overcrowded or where they are not wanted, in late spring. Also you need to avoid flowers like foxglove, which can become quite a pest as it grows in a weed-like manner.
