Dandelions for Dinner
Most people dread the sight of dandelions, as they are seen as more of a pesky weed than a lovely edible flower. Many people would not look at this flower and think of dinner. But those who are a bit more knowledgeable on this subject are aware of the fact that both the flowers and the roots can be eaten.
The best thing about this flower is that it is readily available; there are scores of them all around us. In essence, this is almost free food.
This flowery food can be used in a few different ways. By mashing up the leaves you can make a lovely salad. They give a peppery flavor to a regular salad. Maybe you haven’t paid attention but there are many people who are already out by the roadside picking their next salad. The yellow heads of the flower can also be eaten in what is called Dandelion Tempura.
So if your lawn is overrun with dandelions there is a simple and tasty way to get rid of these pests.
