Cherry Blossoms Filling State CapitolThe nation’s capitol is once again flooded in pink heralding spring and the cherry blossom season.

Last Saturday was the kickoff of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, with the celebrations running through to the 12th of April. There are about 3700 cherry trees in bloom around Washington’s Tidal Basin, which are expected to be admired by nearly a million visitors.

The blooming peak is predicted to be from the 1st of April to the 4th so anyone who paid a visit at that time certainly took lots of pictures as it was quite a sight to see.

The festival itself also provides a number of activities for visitors to take part in, like the chance to visit a floating tea house or design a kirigami structure (made of cut paper). Boat rides along the Potomac River, photo safaris and cocktails inspired by cherries are available at surrounding venues…
