A New Color for the Waitrose
Pink waitroses started selling on the British market due to high demand, which is their first in the span of 10 years.
This bloom is related to the carnation but is quite a bit smaller. Its fragrance is what it is most well-known for, and has hit the market on July 14th.
There are several wonderfully scented varieties for sale like Gran’s Favourite and Bright Eyes, which are the brighter pink varieties. Retailers will also feature seasonal varieties like Devon General and Lily the Pinks.
Waitrose flower buyer, Louise Motala said: “Championed at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show, pinks are a real symbol of the quintessential English summer. The decorative flowers have a superb scent, meaning shoppers can now enjoy the delights of the country garden from the comfort of their own living room.”
Motala added, “As with all our fresh produce, we are dedicated to sourcing our plants and flowers form the UK when they are naturally in season. This cuts the need for travel, and means flowers can often be picked one day and fresh in our store the next.”
This year sales of British flowers have gone up by 30 percent.
