Summer Weddings

2

gaywed.JPGIf you are going to get married this summer now is the time to decide what flowers you will need for the happy day. Lavender, lilies, sunflower, dahlia, rose, magnolia, carnation, heather and sweetpea are all in season.

Remember to consider what flowers you want, and where you want them. Flowers could be needed for the ceremony, whether it is in a church or other location. Flowers for the reception can range from a centrepiece on each table to complete floral decoration of the venue with ledges and mantelpieces dripping with flowers and a welcome arch for the happy couple to make an entrance.

Then there are personal flowers for bride and bridesmaids, and perhaps a flowergirl. The groom will need a buttonhole to match his status and another for the best man. There are also the important friends and family who need to celebrate the day wearing their own matching flowers: corsages for the mothers and other female relatives; buttonholes for the ushers can help indicate their role.

At Flowers24Hours.co.uk we usually recommend our sister website Todich Floral Design Ltd for those who are looking for an all round package. We can also supply planning advice to our customers. On the TFD website we have a range of images of wedding flowers, from bridal bouquets to room decorations.

You are so lucky not to be weighted down with tradition like so many heterosexual couples!

Essentially, the choice is yours for personal flowers: you need to choose what suits your own style. If you are both wearing bridal dresses then a bouquet each would seem appropriate, but do remember that you and your girlfriend must either match or contrast with your flowers ,as with your dresses.

Less dressy options might include one or both of you in trousered suits with floral buttonholes, ladies suits with corsages, summer dresses with flowers in your hair, or in garlands.

While male couples have slightly fewer options without being too outrageous, remember that the kilt is an option for anyone with the slightest Scottish connections, and that gorgeous orchid buttonholes can add to any outfit

For the reception its pretty much anything goes like any other big social event. Why not celebrate with the most spectacular flowers you can and make the day even more memorable?

Remember it is all down to you to make your own tradition, which can be copied by all who follow you.
