In this day and age a lot of women are opting to go the independent route. The number of women who see flowers, chocolate and weddings as an infringement on their freedom is ever-increasing. But this does not mean that they should be thrown out the window, especially for occasions like Valentine’s Day.

Feminism and independence can have a lot of positive sides, and is necessary in today’s world. Often times, this kind of emancipation can be taken too far. Women’s rights need to be addressed, and there is nothing wrong with being an equal in a relationship. The problem surfaces when gifts of appreciation and love are viewed as something negative and a hindrance.

Many men like having a strong woman by their side, somebody who can share the workload and be an equal in a relationship, this type of empowerment is often seen as being attractive and something that is truly appreciated. But this does not mean that they do not have the urge to show a bit of affection at times. And just because we like doing things on our own these days, doesn’t mean that we have to make the show of love and affection a mountain of a task for somebody else (namely, our partner).

Instead, to make this upcoming Valentine’s Day celebration, simple and easy for both you and your partner, clarify what you want.
