Flowers make a very pleasing and romantic sight in the bedroom. A new study shows that having flowers in the bedroom can also help you with your sleep.
According to a German study, sleeping with flowers makes your dreams sweeter. It is also claimed that sufferers of nightmares are helped greatly if they sleep with flowers.
The conclusion was arrived at after 15 female volunteers were studied over a period of 30 nights.
During the Rapid Eye Movement part of their sleep, various scents were pumped under their noses. Rotten eggs, roses or no scent was pumped when the women were dreaming. When they woke up, the women had to record their dreams. The smells did not have an affect on the dreams but they did affect the emotions involved in the dreams — i.e. they did not end up dreaming about roses or rotten eggs for that matter.
When the negative smells were pumped under their noses then the women had negative emotions in their dreams.
For nightmare sufferers this is a huge step forward, as this can be part of a cure for their bad dreams.
