Bowman Hill's Wildflowers in Full Bloom

One of the most beautiful places to go visit at this time of year is Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. This is a natural habitat and the wildflowers found here are in full bloom.

The preserve’s spring ephemeral flowers are usually at their blooming peak in the last week of April and the first week of May. These wildflowers are airly fragile and only bloom until the trees above them spread their leaves.

One of the most precious and beautiful among them is the trout lily. The trumpet shaped yellow blooms flower above green speckled leaves. Trilliums are also found in a variety of shades – white, pink and burgundy.

According to executive director, A. Miles Arnott, “The preserve is one of the most important plant repositories in the entire northeastern United States.” A variety of microhabitats are found in this preserves and that is what allows for such diversity of plant species.
