Spring in the Air!

There is definitely a warmer feeling to the weather and spring flowers are just appearing in the shops. After the long dark winter bulbs are bursting into flower everywhere!
But do remember that if you have a bunch of daffodils or narcissus you should arrange them in a vase on their own. The stems give off a substance that can cause other flowers to wilt before their time. So we cannot create a nice mixed vase of tulips and daffs, even though we can imagine that it would look beautiful – it would not last long!

Gosh! That explains something that has puzzled me. My birthday is in March and I always buy myself some daffodils to brighten my mantelpiece. Last year I contrasted them with some orange tulips and was so disappointed when they only lasted two days.
Now I know I will mix white and yellow narcissus this year.
