There is no shortage of blooms at the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in California. Though this is no surprise as we would only expect this sunny state to be full of flowers.
For tourists visiting the area, a trip off the beaten track can lead to a show of colour. The following weeks are expected to be the blooming peak, and a lot of flowers are expect to spread their petals.
Blooming has slowed down due to cooler temperatures and windy weather, but warm weather is on the way and in many places a wide variety of flowers have already started blooming.
Visitors can expect to see a multitude of; sand verbena, brittle brush, desert lilies, popcorn flowers, chicory desert flowers, fiddlenecks, desert dandelions, chuparosas and phacelia.
Information on flowers is readily available for visitors, with blooming times being constantly updated for potential visitors.
There are wild flower tours and walks available for visitors, with larger tours being organized by the park. Guides are available for the more adventurous hiker, with a knowledge of trails less travelled.
Previous blooming seasons have seen visitors from around the world. But a trip to California is not necessary to enjoy flowers and windflowers. A wonderful idea in the following weeks is to take a trip outside of the city, to see what is blooming or has begun to bloom. If you don’t have free time in the first few weeks of spring; try to find a gift for yourself or someone in the office that reminds you of a trip to the woods. Let Flowers24hours.co.uk help you have them delivered where you need them.

There are some who can hardly wait for spring to begin. One way to catch the first glimpses of spring is to take a trip to Cotswold in March.
The area will be flooded with visitors on the weekend of the 21st and 22nd by nature enthusiasts. For two days the village of Kempley and the surrounding area will be celebrating the daffodil, a well-known favourite for spring.
Walks will be organised for visitors that will follow the trail of daffodils growing in the region. There will also be buses organised for those who are not feeling all that energetic, which will also present a tour of the daffodil filled fields.
This tour can truly be seen as a special experience as this is one of the only places in Britain, where such a large number of wild daffodils can be found.
This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the old railway, Daffodil Line, which has now become a trail popular among walkers who visit the region.
If you can’t make it out to Kempley that weekend then have some narcissus sent to your home, or to the home of someone special. This flower has is very similar in appearance, with its cheerful yellow colouring as the daffodil. Flowers24hours.co.uk, can help even the busiest person experience the beauty of spring.

There’s a lot going on at this time of year, and if you are a gardener you have even more on your plate. With the nights getting longer, this is the ideal time of year for plants to start setting their buds.
Some examples of these flowers and plants are chrysanthemums, poinsettias and zygocacti (Christmas cacti) mainly they can be seen blooming in stores. They are even pushed to bloom to fit specific marketing, and this is done by controlling the length of the days in greenhouses.
The end of October and beginning of November is a ‘green light’ period for gardeners to get their spring blooming plants. I doesn’t matter if you have purchased your bulbs earlier on in the year there is still time to get the planted.
The bulbs need to be planted at least twice the depth of their length, in a spot where they will get about six hours of sunlight, and is important that their pointed end is looking upwards. If it is not clear which end is the pointed one plant them on their side. The shoots and the roots will grow in the right direction on their own.
If your roses are still blooming this is the time to stop cutting them, when roses are cut they produce new shoots, as the weather is fairly cool now frost could kill any new growth, which is not good for the plant.
Take this opportunity to cut a few more blooms for your home, and leave the plant alone until January, when you can get some pruning done.

Winter can be long and tiring, and after the long cold months have passed there is nothing more refreshing than seeing spring bulbs pushing their way through the spring soil. They bring us tons of colours right at the beginning of the season, along with the hope for milder weather. It is also a lucky situation for gardeners — not only do they offer colour but they are easy to care for.
This is the time of year when you need start investing in spring, to get your bulbs into the ground. Once you have chosen your bulbs, they need to be placed and planted properly and you are on your way to having a beautiful spring garden.
Make sure you plant them in an area where they are sure to get lots of good sunlight. The drainage also needs to be good as bulbs can rot. If your soils are poorly drained, you need to run organic matter through them to make an improvement.
The size of the bulb dictates the depth at which you need to plant. The rule of thumb is to plant three times as deep as the bulb is wide. Bulbs like snowdrops, crocuses and scillas should be planted at 4 to 6 inches deep, while bigger ones like hybrid tulips, daffodils and hyacinths should be planted at a depth of 8 inches…

The Red Butte Garden and Arboretum in Utah really bring out the best in spring. There are few places in the country that host such colour and vibrance like this garden.
This is a great place to visit for those who are looking for absolute garden heaven. There are more than 100 acres of natural gardens, walking paths and natural areas to explore. The Red Butte Garden is one of the largest botanical and ecological centers in the West.
There are also 18 acres of display gardens to visit, allowing you to see spring in a new light. Some of Utah’s best and most beautiful plants are featured here, and the displays are living and dynamic.

Spring has arrived and most of us have barely awaited the chance to smell the flowers. There are two very special flowers about to bloom at Kew Gardens. They have long attracted tourists with their size and strange appearance.
But it is about time for them to bloom, and instead of inviting visitors to see the flowers, they are being advised to stay away. The Titan Arum flower will be releasing a smell that is everything but that of roses. When it blooms the flowers release a smell that is more like that of rotting flesh than roses.
The problem has escalated this year as the two plants are expected to bloom at the same time.
It is better to describe the plant than to recommend seeing it. The stem is surrounded by a ring of cream flowers, which sit on a larger ring of pink flowers. The plant heat up when the flowers are ready to release their pollen, this lasts for about three days. The scent or smell is meant to attract flesh-eating beetles, while other insects are attracted to the more colourful flowers at the base…

One of the most beautiful places to go visit at this time of year is Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. This is a natural habitat and the wildflowers found here are in full bloom.
The preserve’s spring ephemeral flowers are usually at their blooming peak in the last week of April and the first week of May. These wildflowers are airly fragile and only bloom until the trees above them spread their leaves.
One of the most precious and beautiful among them is the trout lily. The trumpet shaped yellow blooms flower above green speckled leaves. Trilliums are also found in a variety of shades – white, pink and burgundy.
According to executive director, A. Miles Arnott, “The preserve is one of the most important plant repositories in the entire northeastern United States.” A variety of microhabitats are found in this preserves and that is what allows for such diversity of plant species.

April showers are slowly bringing out the flowers May promises. But the indoors can be brightened up the same way as the outdoors. A school classroom can be brightened up with few bouquets of colour and making flowers can really be a good educational tool for children.
Flower-arranging can be a really useful educational toy, it can teach children about real flowers and the way that they grow in nature.
The Land of Nod catalog has been set-up online and there is a variety of amazing items to choose from. There is a new Put the Petal to the Metal toy, which provides a line of felt flowers and metal pails.
Moreover, flower arranging is an activity that can teach children practical life skills. This toy includes bouquets of colourful flowers and pails to arrange them in. There is a flower-arranging ritual that can be followed and it teaches children to follow directions…
